what you should know about us

Number 1 in research

The latest findings from research and development are directly integrated into teaching and project activities. Innovative solutions are developed in collaboration with students, ensuring rapid implementation into marketable products and processes. Over 600 institutions utilise the expertise of our researchers, with an annual project volume of up to 20 million euros. A total of six centers of excellence serve as the basis for cutting-edge and industry-relevant research.

Study where others go on holiday

Upper Austria is beautiful, with a wide range of leisure activities and absolutely filled with culture. Our lake district, the Salzkammergut, attracts tourists from all over the world and is well-known for its crystal-clear lakes, picturesque Alpine mountains and welcoming people.

Gain international experience

At present, the FH Upper Austria is connected with over 200 partner universities worldwide. Our students can participate in exchange programmes with these institutions for last one or two semesters. Students who go abroad for a semester or a year do not only learn a lot about other cultures and languages, they also gain self-confidence and independence in their daily organisation of life.

There are four main options for gaining international experience:
– Spending an exchange semester abroad at one of our partner universities
– Completing an internship abroad
– Participating in a research project
– Participating in a summer school

Some of our degree programmes include a semester abroad as part of their standard curriculum, but it is also possible in all other programmes. Beyond that, we have agreements with partner universities which sometimes even enable students to obtain an additional academic degree from the partner institution (double degree).
Various funding programmes such as Erasmus + and IPS support students financially.

Class rather than mass – optimum support for students

Students at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria are well supported: through modern infrastructure, personal support in small groups as well as through competent teams in the libraries, in the International Offices and in the course secretaries.
The founding of graduates is particularly promoted by the FH Upper Austria, a service center is there with advice and assistance. For example, a number of successful entrepreneurial careers have started at FH Upper Austria, and successful start-ups such as Runtastic emerged worldwide.
