Johannes Kepler University Linz
The JKU is the largest research and educational institution in Upper Austria and a future-oriented training centre for about 18,000 students. A campus in the countryside, over 60 courses of study, no overcrowded lecture halls, enough study places, a personal exchange with teachers and students, student halls of residence in the surrounding area, attractive evening and leisure activities – all this speaks in favour of studying at JKU. The four faculties – Faculties of Social and Economic Sciences, Law, Engineering and Natural Sciences and Medicine – offer a practice-oriented and interdisciplinary education. Furthermore, the JKU is Austria’s leading university in the field of distance learning and eLearning.
Anton Bruckner Private University
Anton Bruckner Private University constitutes a dynamic and innovative centre for the arts. The university’s mission is three-fold, offering students a training ground for performing the arts, teaching the arts and academic research. Central to the work of the Anton Bruckner Private University is the education of young musicians, actors and dancers from all parts of the world and their development into individual artistic personalities. The range of courses offered includes performance and teaching degrees in the classical instrumental categories and in Vocal Studies, Early Music, Jazz, composition, contemporary dance, „Musikvermittlung“ and elemental music education. Staging more than 500 events a year, the Bruckner University also functions as one of the region’s foremost organisers of cultural events.
University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions
The University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria oﬀers Bachelor-Programs and Master-Programs in the healthcare sector at regional locations in Upper Austria. The close combination of theory, practice, science and research ensures a well-founded health study. Thanks to the close cooperation with the healthcare facilities of the shareholders, students benefit from the excellent infrastructure and expand their skills in professional traineeships. Private University of Education, Diocese of Linz
The Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz offers teacher training courses for elementary school, new secondary school, special needs school and religion at compulsory schools. The teacher training studies begin with a four-week introductory phase, which is to serve as information and orientation for the future profession. The teacher training courses include courses in the fields of humanities, specialist science, subject didactics and school practice. All courses of study include courses organized as lectures, seminars or exercises and continuous practical parts. The courses are supplemented by parts of self-study. The programme concludes with the international academic degree Bachelor of Education (BEd). Based on this, a Master’s degree can be completed.
University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria

Catholic Private University Linz
Our University is a vibrant place of scientific reflection. In the courses of study in theology, philosophy and art studies we promote and demand critical scrutiny and independent thinking. Teachers and students at KU Linz are therefore in constant dialogue with the philosophical, theological, social and art-scientific perspectives and challenges of our time. The Private University has an optimal scientific and administrative infrastructure. The institution was accredited in 2000 as the first private University in Austria. All courses of study offered in the fields of theology, religious education, philosophy and art studies are state-accredited and recognised throughout Europe. The library of KU Linz, the third largest in Upper Austria, has over 255,000 volumes, 3700 journals, 500 of which are current and 770 electronically accessible. It is open to the public.
University of Education Upper Austria
Centrally located in Austria’s third largest city on the river Danube, the university is the second biggest teacher training institution in the country. It provides teacher training for primary school teachers, vocational school teachers and, together with 9 partner universities in Central Austria, secondary school teachers. The university offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees according to the respective study programme majors as well as a great selection of possible minors. The university is also responsible for providing continuing education programmes for employed teachers of all levels and school types in the region of Upper Austria. With the „Europaschule“ the university has its own practice school in which new models of education are developed, practised and evaluated and in which students do practice training during their studies.
